Conversational surveys
with Screeb

Screeb is an online platform offering an innovative way of engaging customers by using conversational surveys.

I was tasked with exploring conversational widgets designs and iterate before a real test with potential clients.

Overview

Interface design & Interaction design
A few days in June 2020

Deliverables

  • Concepts

  • High Fidelity design with Figma

  • Interaction design with Protopie

Challenges

Screeb is a unicorn between the conversational and the survey markets, so how to make the best of the two and create something amazing and truly effective?

  • How to transform the traditional surveys to make them more social, more human, and above all, more integrated into the customer experience?

  • In traditional surveys, response rates are low. How can we attract customers and make them want to voice their opinion?

  • Brands need to ask any types of questions, so how to create something flexible enough?

  • How to propose a unique experience which is mobile and desktop-friendly?

Ideations

The first two days were dedicated to research and design exploration, first on mobile.
After many tests, I defined 3 ways of positioning the survey: floating, on a sidebar, on a drawer. Each option obviously had its strengths and weaknesses.

Then, I designed a catalogue of question/answer formats, focusing on a fun and playful experience.

Positionning options

Questions and answers format exploration.

Design solutions

After all this ideation, we decided to continue exploring the floating version, which was more adequate for our needs. This option was the more intuitive, playful and adaptable to each brand. But my first drafts still missed a more conversational & social look.

To resolve this, I decided to personify the first message sent by Screeb and make questions and answers face each other, like in a real conversation.

This kind of work is not complete without interaction design & animations, especially when we want a playful and fun result, so I made many tests with Protopie to add micro-interactions here and there (not visible here).

Here are some of the designs (with a fake website on the back). The video also helped to show potential clients how the survey will work in the end.

Takeaways & next steps

I had a lot of fun working on this project, and I’m pleased about the result.

It’s still early, and we are currently testing these designs with the first clients. We hope to gather enough feedback and ideas to improve and iterate, and I can’t wait to continue!

This was the first project I did in collaboration with Screeb, and more is on the way :)
